duplicate app limit in AppData\Local?
It appears that there is a limit on how many times an application can appear in ...\AppData\Local\... I'm a Windows 7 developer and occasionally encounter a problem when I recompile an application for testing. At some point there seem to be too many
entries for it in AppData\Local and my application will not run anymore. It doesn't issue any warnings, just refuses to run. Is there a limit and does anyone know how many? If I go in and delete all the entries on a certain branch, my application
will start working again.
I seem to lose a lot of hair each time I forget and encounter this problem again.

I would recommend using Process Monitor to pinpoint the cause.
Give a try to developer forum too.

I tried to duplicate the problem and look into this issue further, but failed. I created 33 versions of my application, ran each one, generating 33 entries under ...\AppData\Local\MyCompany\MyApp... and they all ran fine (I guessed there might be a limit
at 32). noticed that some previously created versions of my application generate another entry under ...\AppData\Local\MyCompany\... such as MyApp.exe_URL_aaa... and MyApp.exe_URL_aab... Maybe there is a limit at that level. I have not figured out when these
entries are created.
I think the developer forum would be a better place for this discussion. I'll try to find a suitable thread over there.
